This is what we are doing to our oceans!!!!!!  Think about it................

"When you see Tuna,think Panda"

Sad but clever a campaign to save Bluefin!!!!!!!!!

This is Mr. Kiyoshi Kimura. He has purchased a 489 pound Bluefin at Tokyo's sprawling Tsukiji fish market.

This fish was sold for 155.4 million yen, or $1.76 M making it the most expensive fish ever sold.

The Tsukiji Fish Market opens for business every morning before the sun comes out. TONS and TONS of Bluefin are identified, unloaded, in ice, and spread out for auction.

Mitsubishi"owns" more then one third of the market for critically endangered bluefin

They  are alleged to have started hoarding thousands of  TONS of Bluefin just as stocks of the fish plummet worldwide.

Bluefin vs sushi

The fish's tender pink and red flesh is highly priced for sushi and sashimi.

Pacific Bluefin Tuna is one of the largest and most magnificent creatures in the oceans. They reach reproductive maturity level at 5 years old and they grow up to 3 meters length and 450 kg. The Bluefin Tuna has a torpedo shaped body making them one of the fastest fish in the ocean.
They are great travelers and are approximately able to reach every corner of every ocean in the world. Their ability to circumnavigate the globe is exactly what is making them vulnerable to poaching and overfishing. Since the beginning of the 20th century, when industrial fishing was introduced, the Bluefin numbers have been reduced by 90-97%. No doubt, the biggest market for Bluefin is in Japan. About 80% of the entire catch of Bluefin are sold in the famous Tsukiji market. Sushi and Sashimi is part of the everyday diet in this country, and the delicious flash of bluefin is exactly what they are after.
